Inflammation Fighters

Anytime there is an injury in the body, an inflammatory process is put in motion. The inflammatory process is necessary for healing, but too much can be very detrimental. This is because too much inflammation can actually CAUSE further tissue damage, and can lead to further scar-tissue adhesion development.

Most of the time, inflammation will naturally resolve when the biomechanical problems of the shoulder are resolved. For example, when adhesions are removed and the muscles are rehabilitated to regain balance of strength and flexibility, there is no longer anything left in the shoulder to irritate the tissues and to cause inflammation. The inflammation was only a by-product of the improper biomechanics, and can be resolved most of the time by correcting the improper function.

In some cases however, it is necessary to take extra measures to directly fight inflammation. There are basically four things that will help fight inflammation:

  • Ice
  • Natural Anti-Inflammatory Supplements (Such as Bromelain, White Willow Bark and Curcumin... the list is endless)
  • Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Medications (Both over-the-counter and prescription such as Aspirin, Advil, Vioxx and Celebrex)
  • Corticosteroids (Intramuscular injections of Cortisone)
